A few minor changes to The Nerdy Student

I've been making a few minor changes to The Nerdy Student here and there, and wanted to share with you what these are.

New domain!

Hi everyone. You may notice I've moved from thenerdystudent.blogspot.com to thenerdystudent.com. I've got a premium domain, and thanks to all that donated and helped out!

The new domain looks better and more professional, as well as is easier to remember.

The Nerdy Student is now using Disqus for comments!

I've recently added Disqus to be the commenting method on the blog. I did this for a few reasons:

• Disqus looks better than the standard Blogger commenting. It runs smoothly, and is much easier to use.
• Conversations flow easier on Disqus. It's quicker to post, and it's easier to reply to people.
• Better guest posting.
• Larger community.

I've finally added donations! You may be wondering what the benefits are. These things will be added over time as the money becomes available.

Something I wanted for a while - it would make The Nerdy Student look more professional, and would improve the site.

Nicer theme

Whilst I'm a fan of the current theme, I'd love to get a custom snazzy theme.

More apps and tech to review

I get gifted a lot of my apps and tech, that is true. However, there are some apps and tech that I would love to review that I can't unless I have the money - Scrivener and Ulysses for example.

Pokémon Go announced in the Pokémon Press Conference

Pokémon Go has just been announced at the Pokémon Press Conference. It is planned to be released in 2016. It will be free to play, but of course, will feature in-app purchases.

In Pokémon Go, you use you phone to find Pokémon where you live. Watch the video above to see more.

You can purchase an extension called the Pokémon Go Plus; this is a device that connects via Blue Tooth with Pokemon Go and notifies you of what’s happening around you in the game via LED lights.

That's all that was announced in the Conference (sadly no main game).

I can't wait to download and try it out!

Pokémon Appear on The Nerdy Student!

Hello there!

You may have seen that I recently added a survey, and that was to decide whether stuff about Pokémon would be added to The Nerdy Student.

I am happy to announce that the results were in favor of Pokémon being added!

Pokémon in the spotlight and Pokémon Cards are what people want to see most, so you can expect to see posts on this topic.

If you don't like Pokémon, do not fear! The normal productivity posts, software reviews and reviews (and more) will still be added.

I am planning to post Pokémon related stuff every Wednesday, and continue posting the usual stuff every Saturday.
